A select bibliography of scholarly publications related to the art, civilization and archaeology of medieval Europe.

The art and civilization of the European Middle Ages, from Late Antiquity and Early Christian times through the Romanesque and Gothic eras, continue to inspire the production of scholarly books devoted to the medieval millennium. Many publications are color-illustrated catalogues from recent museum exhibitions, written by expert art and cultural historians, respected archaeologists and curators. Most of the recommended titles can be purchased at bookstores and through the Internet.

This bibliography concludes with the dawn of the 15th Century in Italy and the beginning of the 16th Century in northern Europe.
